A transgender swimmer Ana Caldas47, has received a five-year ban from the International Swimming Federation.
The reason is the refusal of the gender test.
– Chromosome tests are disturbing and expensive procedures. My insurance does not cover such a test because it is not medically necessary, Caldas justified his decision, according to the Daily Mail.
Caldas, known as Hannah, will also forfeit all of her competition results from 6/2022 to 10/2024.
The demand for the test originated from the games held in May in San Antonio, Texas, where Caldas scooped five gold medals in the 45-49 age category.
Race partner Wendy Enderle stated that he felt betrayed, as he was not aware that Caldas was born a woman.
Transgenders are banned from competing in Texas.
– I understand and accept the sanctions. But a five-year ban is the price I have to pay for all the most intimate medical information, Caldas said.
– I will gladly pay that price. For myself and all other women who don’t want to take part in a disturbing test.
