MSV Duisburg missed the leap back to the top of the 3rd football league.
In an entertaining Ruhrpott derby, the Zebras had to be content with a 1:1 (1:1) draw against Rot-Weiss Essen on Sunday evening. The new table leader after the 12th matchday is Energie Cottbus.
Duisburg took the lead through Florian Krüger (23rd). However, RWE’s answer followed promptly: Ramien Safi (25th) equalized and benefited from a miss by Maximilian Braune in the MSV goal.
The draw means Duisburg remains in second place, one point behind Cottbus; Energie beat TSV Havelse on Saturday (4:3). Essen keeps an eye on the top group as fifth in the table.
