The Mexico GP may turn out to be one of the most important in this year’s F1 series.
It’s because the World Series leader Oscar Piastri is in big trouble and may lose a large part of his points lead.
However, in the first part of Saturday’s time trial, the Aussie driver was able to take a small victory. He was tenth fastest by almost half a second to the Racing Bulls Isack Hadjar slower.
The Frenchman was surprisingly the fastest of the bunch.
As expected, both Alpine drivers dropped out of the continuation Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto mixed Gabriel Bortoleto, Alex Albon and Lance Stroll.
Alpine boss Flavio Briatore showed his frustration clearly. He particularly cursed Colapinto’s lack of pace.
