The German sporting goods provider Puma SE is restructuring its management structure in retail.
On Thursday, the company announced the appointment of Ronald Reijmers as Vice President Global Retail. In this role, the 55-year-old will “lead the development of the company’s full-price and outlet stores worldwide,” said Puma. Reijmers will take up his new position on November 1st and will report directly to Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Matthias Bäumer.
The background to this is the sporting goods retailer’s decision to reorganize its direct-to-consumer business. This will be divided into the two independent areas of Global Retail and Global E-Commerce, according to a statement. The company is thus separating the management of stationary retail, which Reijmers will take over, from the online business, for which a new manager is still being sought.
Erik Janshen is leaving the company
Erik Janshen, who was appointed Vice-President Direct-to-Consumer in the summer of 2024 and headed both areas in this role, “decided to leave Puma to pursue new professional challenges outside the company,” explained the sportsman.
According to his future employer, Reijmers has “almost three decades of experience in the sports industry” and has held “various leadership positions in retail strategy and management” throughout his career. He most recently worked for the British sportswear provider Gymshark, and before that he worked for Nike and Adidas.
CCO Bäumer explained the personnel decision. “Ronald is a highly experienced manager with an impressive track record in the industry,” he said in a statement. “He brings deep global retail expertise, both at a strategic and operational level. He will help us further build our growth momentum in this channel.”
