Former NHL professional Jean Sebastien-Dea has moved to the Eisbären Berlin in the DEL and has signed a contract until the end of the current 2025/26 season. The German capital club officially announced this on Wednesday.

“With Jean-Sebastien we were able to sign an internationally experienced center. He not only gives our squad further depth, but is a very good skater and strong playmaker. Jean-Sebastien has a good finish and a good eye for his teammates. We are pleased to see him in the Eisbären jersey from now on,” explained sports director Stephane Richer.

New signing Dea was also pleased about the collaboration: “The Eisbären are a great organization and I’m excited about this opportunity. I already know some of my new teammates and have heard incredible things about the city and the fans. I can’t wait to get to know everyone, get started and hopefully bring another championship to Berlin.”

Dea comes to the reigning German champions from Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the Russian KHL. The Canadian previously played in the NHL and was on the ice 37 times for the Pittsburgh Penguins (2018-2019), Buffalo Sabers (2019-2021) and Arizona Coyotes (2022/23). The attacker had 7 scorer points (5 goals, 2 assists).
