Frank van Leeuwen, who is increasingly starting to overshadow Sam Hagens as the great talent of Omroep WNL, would like to become the new Eva Jinek. “A program in the early evening.”

It is a bit painful for Sam Hagens: he switched from Today Inside to Omroep WNL with a lot of fanfare, was immediately allowed to make the late talk show of NPO 1 last summer, but has not lived up to the high expectations and is now quietly being overtaken by the broadcaster’s other talent: Frank van Leeuwen.

Frank was disappointed

Frank forms a permanent set with Welmoed Sijtsma for Good Morning Netherlands, but for the evening version Good Evening Netherlands she was placed next to Sam. That must have hit Frank hard, especially when it turned out that the two were ultimately busy with their holidays and the program continued at half speed.

Was Frank disappointed that he was passed over? He says in it A.D: “In the very beginning I thought: I would have liked that too. But at that time I had only been working as a morning presenter for six months. I think it is also healthy to first make more progress. I have noticed that recently.”

Better in fingers

In the meantime, Frank has made many meters. “I clearly have a better handle on things than last year. That’s why I said yes to WNL on Sunday, to join in. There is more peace in the conversations and a presentation. I dare to be silent every now and then. If I develop further, such a moment will definitely come.”

During that recent raid on WNL on Sunday, Frank provided sensational television by pinning Caroline van der Plas. “I thought it was special to see how that worked, it’s something you have absolutely no control over. And now it’s going well, but there may also come a time when you say something wrong.”

New Eve

What does Frank want to do in the long term? He agrees The Telegraph to aspire to have their own program in the early evening, just like Eva Jinek has. “Then we are really talking about long-term dreams.”

He concludes: “I just turned 30! So I still think it’s… how do I say? It all happens so quickly. I’ve only been doing this for a season and a half, so give me a break. I love this.”
