Ski racer Alexander Steen Olsen will miss the start of the World Cup in Sölden on Sunday. The Norwegian Ski Association confirmed this on Monday.

Last year’s winner suffered from persistent knee problems, which is why he had to cancel his participation in Austria.

“It is a shame to miss the opening race after last year’s victory. My knee is not working and I am traveling back for further examinations and treatment in consultation with the federation’s medical health team,” says Steen Olsen about his failure.

The 24-year-old celebrated his first victory in the giant slalom in Sölden last year. The men’s start to the Olympic winter takes place on Sunday, the women’s start a day earlier.
