A procession of honor will be organized next Wednesday at the request of the family for 10-year-old Anne-roos, who died in a traffic accident in Tilburg on Tuesday. With this, the people around the family want to reflect on the life of Anne-roos. The organization wants to draw attention to road safety with a flower campaign. “Anne-roos was a lively child, so a silent trip doesn’t feel good,” says one of the organizers.
The collision on Dillenburglaan in which Anne-roos died on Tuesday has a major impact on Tilburg. “You can see from all the expressions of support coming from all sides that the accident has stirred up a lot of emotion,” says a spokesperson close to the family.
“Anne-roos was a lively child.”
In consultation with the family, they are not organizing a silent procession next Wednesday, but a procession of honor. “Anne-roos was a lively child, so a silent journey does not feel good. We are organizing the journey to honor her life,” he says.
The carnival association De Blauwwituiltjes in Goirle already reflected on the loss of their youth councilor this week. “Our niece and youth council member Anne-roos died completely unexpectedly as a result of a traffic accident,” the board wrote on Friday. “We are completely paralyzed after we received this message.”
Everyone is welcome to the tour on Wednesday from half past six. Participants may bring a lantern and a flower. From seven o’clock they leave from Stadhuisplein in Tilburg via Heuvelstraat, Nieuwlandstraat, the station and Lange Nieuwstraat towards the Lumenplantsoen. There the flowers are placed in the fence of Tiliander primary school, where Anne-roos went to school.
“We hope people think about how they get into the car.”
Acting Mayor Onno Hoes will briefly speak there. Out of respect for the family, the organization asks participants not to bring photos of Anne-roos. In addition to a procession of honor, the friends of the family also organized a flower campaign.
“We have already hung flowers on lampposts along the route and the street where the accident happened is a large sea of flowers. People can hang up artificial roses in their own environment. We want to focus on road safety and hope that people think about how they get into the car,” says the organizer.
The motorist who hit Anne-roos had his blood taken on Tuesday according to protocol. “The blood test must show whether the driver was driving under the influence of drink or drugs,” the police previously reported.
