Ferrari continues to fall short of expectations. Recently there were rumors about ex-Red Bull team boss Christian Horner. Now the Ferrari president has come forward.
After speculation about a possible commitment from ex-Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, Ferrari President John Elkann has sent a clear signal.
At a public appearance in Washington, Elkann demonstratively supported current team boss Fred Vasseur. He said: “I would like to express our full confidence in our team principal Fred Vasseur and in the work he is doing together with all our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari – the mechanics, engineers and drivers competing in Austin this weekend.”
Friends of Horner also confirmed that he was actively looking for a new job in Formula 1. The 51-year-old Brit has been without a job since leaving Red Bull in the middle of the current season.
The British “Daily Mail” recently reported that Ferrari President Elkann had lost confidence in team boss Fred Vasseur. The Frenchman has been in office since January 2023. Although his contract was extended long-term at the end of July, there had already been speculation about a possible replacement for the 57-year-old.
In his statement, Elkann also emphasized “how important everyone’s teamwork is in order to concentrate on the only goal that counts: to always give our best on the race track.”
However, the Scuderia is once again following its expectations this year. After two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel failed to win another title at their respective times with Ferrari, Hamilton is still waiting for his first Grand Prix podium. Kimi Räikkönen won the last driver’s title in the famous red racing car in 2007.
