Harry Kane raises both arms

Harry Kane has often amazed people with his goalscoring abilities. With his performance in the 2-1 (1-0) win in the top Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund, the FC Bayern Munich striker topped himself again.

The game against Borussia Dortmund once again showed that Harry Kane is one of the best goalscorers in football history and today. The way he pushed aside Serhou Guirassy in the air to make it 1-0 with his header is a testament to the quality and great cleverness that only someone who has successfully penetrated the opponent’s penalty area several hundred times can have.

It was Kane’s 22nd goal in just his eleventh competitive game this season and the 411th goal of his career.

Bayern coach Kompany: “Crazy and madness”

“Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo scored so many goals that you think it’s normal – but over 400 goals are insane and crazy”said his coach Vincent Kompany after the 2-1 win in the “Klassiker” on “Sky”. But he liked the surroundings even more: “What he did today: Harry also worked a lot for us at the back today and was a very important player for us.”

Kane was actually a lot for FC Bayern in this game, maybe everything. His performance ended with a tackle in his own penalty area, with which he blocked a shot from Fabio Silva that could have had the potential to equalize. He started with a dribble against two Dortmund players in their own penalty area, which was followed by a through pass that resulted in a double chance. Kane’s performance had the goal moment and many moments in which he played precise passes over tens of meters.

Kane is everywhere – to the chagrin of BVB

“We like it when it’s not clear and the question comes”Kompany replied with a smile about Kane’s role that day. What is certain is that it changed the moment Serge Gnabry was ruled out due to adductor problems and Nicolas Jackson was brought into the starting line-up. The new loan signing moved to the front and Kane became a free spirit. His “heat map” from the game definitely has the potential to become a painting that he could hang next to his goalscoring trophies.

This busyness was what pulled BVB’s teeth, especially in the first half, when Bayern could have (or rather, should) have decided the game. “What really caused us problems was that Harry Kane dropped so deep and we didn’t cover. That’s why we never got into good pressing situations.”said Dortmund coach Niko Kovac in the Sportschau interview.

The overall truth is that Kane relieved Dortmund’s pressure early in the game. Because BVB attacked him twice deep in the Munich half, both times it became extremely dangerous on the other side seconds later because the English national team captain was able to resolve the situation. This is also one of the strengths of a goalscorer who is much more than that.

Kompany gives Kane a position – and then lets him do it

Now Kompany could use his protégé’s exceptional overall performance as an opportunity to celebrate himself for his tactical trick. However, the Bayern coach made it relatively clear after the game that Kane’s implementation was not necessarily based on Kompany’s instructions, but rather on the Englishman’s own ideas. And because they are so good and the structure works like that, the coach lets his players do whatever they want.

“Harry has a lot of feel for the position. In his head it may be that it’s my decision where he stands – but I’m totally going with what he shows.”said Kompany, who can be reassured not only because of the numbers that the trips have no impact on Kane’s goal threat. “Why should I stop it? I could if I felt he was too far away from the goal. It’s important to trust your players.”

“In Kane we trust” (“We trust in Kane”) – that could be described as FC Bayern’s new motto, because the outstanding success so far with eleven competitive game wins at the start of the season has a lot to do with the actual center forward. Kane made many of these successes possible with his goals, but against Dortmund he also needed his passes, dribbling and tackles for the three points. It was his Munich masterpiece.
