We asked an expert to comment on this popular denim trend. Founder of FTA-Vintage located on Fredrikinkatu in Helsinki Oscar Salovaara is now exposing the phenomenon to Tyyli.com.
– The return of the decorative jeans of the early 2000s is strongly connected to the Y2K style that has been trending in recent years. Brands like True Religion were popular at that time and now the accentuated stitching and showy pockets are interesting again.
– Men often prefer wider models, while women see more low-waisted, downward-flaring bootcut versions, Salovaara clarifies.
The situation and the popularity of this particular denim model do not really surprise the vintage entrepreneur.
– Fashion goes in cycles, and it was to be expected that certain things from the styles of the early 2000s would re-emerge. Our jeans in this style sell out quickly whenever they are available for sale, he says.
