Next loss for DFB women: national coach nominated
October 17, 2025 – 7:18 p.mReading time: 1 min.

A defender will not be available for the two international matches against France. In return, another player gets a new chance.
National coach Christian Wück has to cope with another loss before the semi-finals in the Nations League against France. After goalkeeper Ena Mahmutovic, Sarai Linder from VfL Wolfsburg is now also out. As the DFB announced, the full-back cannot take part in the games on October 24th and 28th. After her injury break, Linder still needs targeted control of the load.
The 25-year-old suffered a capsular ligament injury to her left ankle in the European Championship quarter-finals against France at the end of July. Although she was recently in the starting line-up in both the Bundesliga game against FC Bayern (1:3) and the Champions League duel against Valerenga IF (2:1), she is now being rested.
Alara Sehitler from FC Bayern was nominated to replace Linder. The 18-year-old is considered one of the greatest talents in German women’s football and was awarded the Fritz Walter Gold Medal on the day she was nominated. At the European Championships, Wück was without the flexible player, but now she has a new chance in the DFB team.
The first leg against France will take place on October 24th (5.45 p.m./ARD) in Düsseldorf. The second leg follows four days later in Caen, France.
