Midler looked back on the collaboration in the talk show Watch what happens live. „I think that was the most fun I’ve ever had,” said Midler. “I was laughing every day. I cried laughing.”

Midler and Keaton had a long friendship. According to Midler, Keaton’s acting was also “unique”. “I used to always go home and try to imitate her style,” says the 79-year-old actress. “But I just couldn’t do it. No one could. I’ve seen a lot of people come close, but no one has ever been able to capture that real soul that she had.”
First wives club (1996) was about three women who want revenge on their ex-husbands because they were traded for younger wives. The film, starring Midler, Keaton and Goldie Hawn, was nominated for an Oscar.
Keaton died on Saturday at the age of 79 from pneumonia.
