After 37 years, Véronique Nichanian appears to be stepping down from her Hermès saddle and handing over the artistic direction of menswear.

The designer announced her departure in an interview with French daily Le Figaro, in which she also said it would be good if someone else took over. The French luxury group confirmed the information to the trade magazine WWD on Tuesday evening. Accordingly, Nichanian will present her last fashion show in January at Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

Before Nichanian took over the management of Hermès menswear in 1988, she worked for the French fashion house Cerruti, where she began her career.
