Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), hybrid cars with a plug, pollute almost as much as petrol cars. This is evident from a study by the NGO Transport & Environment (T&E), a European umbrella organization that is committed to sustainable transport. Even in electric driving mode, PHEVs still consume fuel and emit an average of 68 grams of CO2 per kilometer, T&E said.
