However, public attention was diverted to a much more trivial detail: the Argentine president’s hair.
A video of the meeting, which quickly went viral, showed Milei with her hair more messy than usual, spilling out to all angles under the white lights of the Oval Office. The close-up camera shot highlighted the disheveled locks and a general look of carelessness that contrasted with the solemn surroundings of the meeting. In some fragments he is seen adjusting his jacket and moving restlessly, while his hairstyle seemed to take on a life of its own.
The video reignited debate over Milei’s public image, which often defends its untidy style as part of its authenticity. But on this occasion, aesthetics seemed to eclipse diplomacy: the indomitable hairstyle became the true protagonist of the event, relegating even the announcement of the multimillion-dollar economic aid package.
In parallel, the political link between Milei and Trump became evident. The Argentine president has repeatedly expressed his admiration for the former US president, whom he described as “deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize” and defined as his “new patron.” In previous interviews, such as the one he offered in November 2024 to podcaster Lex Fridman, he praised his economic policies and his confrontational style.
During the historic meeting, Trump not only publicly supported Milei with promises of economic aid, but also left him a personal and unusual gesture: a signed note on official letterhead, where he wrote in his own handwriting: “Javier, you are a great president. I am your friend!”, emphatically underlining the word great. Milei shared the dedication on his networks that same night, turning it into a symbol of the affinity between both leaders, which transcends diplomacy and is based on an ideological friendship based on economic liberalism and the rejection of state interventionism.
Even with the announcements and protocol photos, the meeting was marked by an image: that of Milei’s hair, defying Washington protocol and remembering that, even in the White House, her style remains uncontrollable.
