VfL Bochum has extended the contract of striker Philipp Hofmann (32) by two years until June 30, 2028. The Bundesliga relegated team announced this on Monday. According to the “WAZ“But already in August, when Hofmann received an offer from league rivals Hertha BSC.
“My family feels at home in Bochum, the stadium and Castroper Straße have become my second home, VfL is my home – that’s why I’m very happy that our time together at VfL continues. I’m happy to take on responsibility and be a contact person for our young players. I want to make my contribution to this, of course preferably with as many goals and assists as possible,” said Hofmann, who has 19 goals and twelve assists since 2022 in 110 appearances.
Managing director Ilja Kaenzig added: “Philipp Hofmann is a player who always leads the way on and off the pitch and puts himself at the service of the team. He has scored many important goals – not least in the legendary 2024 relegation against Fortuna Düsseldorf – which every VfL fan will surely remember fondly. His importance in the dressing room is also reflected in the fact that he is on the team council and is vice-captain. He has “Fought back after his serious injury at the end of last season and will remain an important part of the VfL family in the future.”
