Former protégé landed at 96

Hannover attacker Mustapha Bundu played 22 championship games at Plymouth Argyle under the direction of coach Miron Muslic and contributed ten scorers. A balance that made a lasting impression on the current Schalke coach, as he now confirmed in a conversation with the “Bild” newspaper. “It’s no secret that he would also have been interesting for Schalke. Hannover have signed a very good striker,” explained the 43-year-old, referring to his former protégé.
Right winger Bundu, son-in-law of Danish storm legend Flemming Povlsen, decided to move to Lower Saxony in the summer. At Maschsee, however, he has so far fallen short of his England quota; despite good chances, the 28-year-old is still waiting for his first league goal in the Reds’ jersey. “He’s a great guy who performed well during the difficult phase in which I took over Plymouth,” Muslic told the paper and continued: “He wasn’t in the squad before. I saw his potential and his strengths for the team. He can be used in several positions offensively. This makes him a very grateful player for every coach.” Under Muslic, Bundu was able to increase his market value again to a seven-figure sum.
The Sierra Leone international’s contract in Hanover is dated until 2028. On Friday, Schalke and Hannover meet directly in the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga, and Bundu’s goal knot may burst in the duel with his ex-coach.

After fan violence in Dublin: Schalke takes the incident “very seriously”
Meanwhile, another incident caused a stir at Schalke. Before the Royal Blues’ friendly in Dublin on Saturday, two people were attacked by S04 fans. A video circulating on the Internet shows how a photographer and a man are attacked from the Schalke fan march. “Of course we have taken note of the incident. First of all, we would like to expressly apologize to the people affected and wish them a quick and complete recovery,” said Schalke.

“Violence in any form is absolutely unacceptable and is in no way consistent with the values and mission statement of our association.” The club also wrote: “We take the incident very seriously and will fully support the club’s efforts to deal with it.” The Gelsenkirchen team’s game against Irish first division club Bohemian FC was intended to give Schalke fans the opportunity to accompany their team to an international game again after long-ago Champions League nights. Around 2,000 Revierklub supporters were there. In front of 4,500 spectators at the sold-out Dalymount Park stadium, Schalke lost 3-2 on Saturday.
“The game was very wild. That suits Dublin, that suits Ireland,” said coach Muslic afterwards, looking at his team’s sporting performance: “The result hardly played a role, but it’s still a shame that we conceded 2-3 in the final minute. However, it doesn’t change the wonderful experience in Dublin.”
