To be precise: 2.8 percent of Zoetermeer households had assets of one million euros or more on January 1, 2024. Since there were 57,776 households living in Zoetermeer at that time, this amounts to approximately 1,600 millionaire families.
The AD looked last week the figures from Statistics Netherlands on the number of millionaires in Dutch municipalities. These are the most current figures and are therefore from January 1, 2024. The number of millionaire households in Zoetermeer may have changed (slightly) in the meantime.
Most and least millionaires
Where in the Netherlands do the most millionaires live? In the municipalities of Laren and Bloemendaal. About one in three households has a capital of at least 1 million euros. The Limburg municipalities of Brunssum, Heerlen and Kerkrade have the fewest millionaire households, as do Nissewaard (South Holland) and Den Helder (North Holland).
Good to know: CBS looked at the total assets for these figures. This concerns matters such as salary, pension, shares and the value of your own home. The mortgage debt is included.
