Tadej Pogacar is unstoppable. The Slovenian won the traditional Tour of Lombardy again this year and made history.
At 4:51 p.m. this triumph was also perfect for Tadej Pogacar. The 27-year-old, world and European champion from Team UAE Team Emirates, was once again first across the finish line on Saturday (October 11, 2025) after 241 kilometers from Como to Bergamo and was able to celebrate his fifth victory in a row at this cycling monument.
In doing so, the Slovenian drew level with the legendary Fausto Coppi, who was the only driver to have won the Monument five times – although the Italian only managed four victories in a row.
Pogacar, who started this race as the big favorite, confirmed his continued outstanding form and was able to record his 108th victory as a professional.
Pogacar extremely calm
Remco Evenepoel from the Soudal Quick Step team pulled away around 20 kilometers from the finish line and came second (+1.48 minutes). The Australian Michael Storer secured third place (+3.13 minutes; Tudor Pro Cycling). The German Florian Lipowitz canceled his planned start in Lombardy at short notice and ended his season.
After around 100 kilometers, Tadej Pogacar was still in the middle of the field and seemed extremely calm. Only after the two climbs in the middle of the race did Pogacar appear in the front peloton, which had split into two parts.
Man for them History books
The American Quinn Simmons had tried to pull away from the field at times, but Pogacar waited patiently until he struck after 208 kilometers and took the lead. After that he was unstoppable.
For Pogacar it was the 20th win of the season – the entire German team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe has only won two races more. With his tenth success at one of the five cycling monuments, Pogacar passed the great Italian Coppi and is now sole third behind the Belgians Eddy Merckx (19) and Roger De Vlaeminck (11).
