Rob van Someren, who was one of the trusted voices on Radio 10 for years, finds it incomprehensible that Gordon has been asked for the morning show. “I don’t understand this choice, no.”

It has not made much of a difference so far: the morning show with Gordon and Froukje de Both is not exactly a resounding success on Radio 10. The two have been given a commitment for a year, so they still have some time to prove themselves. In any case, Rob van Someren, a regular voice on the channel for years, has little confidence in it.

‘Don’t understand’

Rob, who currently makes radio for 100% NL, doesn’t understand it at all. “It’s risky,” he says The Telegraph. “Gordon makes a program that falls under the category love it or hate it. I don’t understand this choice, no.”

“When I was still there, and actually had to leave the daily afternoon programming, there was a focus on fewer personality programs. Now you put Gordon there in the morning. I doubt whether the Radio 10 listener is waiting for that. But time will tell, they have just started.”

Slow business

Gordon finds the criticism of Radio 10’s declining listening figures lame, because, according to him, radio slow business is. Rob agrees with that; He also doesn’t exactly score 100% NL.

“Radio is slow business: it is not a sprint, but a marathon. You hope that things will go faster, but you also have to be realistic. All radio stations in the top 10 have complete freedom in their choice of music. We have to broadcast 50 percent Dutch-language music. That limits your freedom of choice somewhat.”
