Double pack from the point
Ex-HSV professional lets Werder celebrate in the northern derby
October 11, 2025 – 8:25 p.mReading time: 1 min.

The women of Werder Bremen won the derby against HSV. A former Hamburg player appeared to have strong nerves.
There have never been so many spectators at a Werder women’s home game: 37,000 fans came to the Weserstadion on Friday evening – and saw a confident home win against Hamburger SV. Werder won the northern derby of the women’s Bundesliga 2-0 (1-0).
The difference was made by a player with a history with the opponent. Larissa Mühlhaus scored both goals – both ice-cold from the point. She converted a hand penalty in the 6th minute, but referee Riem Hussein’s whistle was controversial. A second penalty followed in the 56th minute – this time without any discussions. The 22-year-old did not celebrate after both goals. Mühlhaus himself wore the HSV jersey from 2021 to 2024.
Werder was the better team in this northern derby and earned their third win of the season in the sixth game. The Bremen team climbed to fifth place in the table. HSV had a particularly difficult time attacking. Mária Mikolajová missed the best opportunity in the 46th minute when she hit the post shortly after being substituted on.
The two teams had already faced each other in a special setting in March: 57,000 spectators came to the Volkspark for the DFB Cup semi-final. The Bremen team also won this duel – 3-1 after extra time.
