Bitter news for the DFB team: Before the game against Northern Ireland, the team has to cope with an offensive failure.

The German national team will play their guest game in Belfast without Jamie Leweling. As the DFB announced on Saturday, the Stuttgart player had been training individually since Tuesday due to adductor problems. Now he has left the team headquarters, the association wrote.

The reason: They said they didn’t want to take any risks with Leweling in view of the current season. That’s why the offensive player won’t be traveling to the Northern Irish capital on Sunday.

Germany will face the British again in World Cup qualifying on Monday. In September, Julian Nagelsmann’s team won their first meeting 3-1 in Cologne. Germany is currently in first place in the qualifying group, level on points with Northern Ireland and Slovakia. On Friday, the team led by captain Joshua Kimmich won 4-0 against Luxembourg.
