The bad luck with injuries among German U21 footballers continues. The two central defenders Joshua Quarshie from FC Southampton and Julian Pauli (Dynamo Dresden) had to leave on Friday due to thigh injuries. The DFB announced this before the 2:3 defeat in the European Championship qualification in Jena against Greece.
Pauli, who has been loaned to Dresden from 1. FC Cologne this season, was only nominated on Thursday and traveled from Portugal with the U20 team. Elias Baum (Eintracht Frankfurt), who was also nominated later, was not in the squad against Greece because he was slightly injured.
