After his performance at the VMAs, accusations arose that Yungblud was selfishly cashing in on Ozzy Osbourne’s memory.
Jack Osbourne responded to allegations in a conversation with Yungblud on his podcast. It was claimed the musician was capitalizing on his father’s death. He stood protectively in front of the young rock artist.
Editorial recommendations
“After the VMAs, some artists said you were just jumping on the bandwagon. They claimed you were seeking attention in connection with Ozzy’s death. I want to take this opportunity to set the record straight,” Jack Osbourne said on his podcast on Oct. 9.
“We’ve talked about this as a family and think you’ve behaved with such dignity over the past few months,” Ozzy Osbourne’s son continued.
“People have no idea”
Yungblud was far more involved in the family than was publicly known. “We respect that you treated us with so much respect. These people have no idea. They don’t know our history. They don’t know what we know,” Jack Osbourne tearfully told Yungblud.
When the Black Sabbath icon’s son could no longer hold back his tears, Yungblud rushed to his aid with a hug.
Bitterness and envy among critics
Critics had previously claimed that Yungblud took advantage of the attention surrounding Ozzy Osbourne’s death at the VMAs. In the more than two-hour conversation on the podcast, Jack Osbourne and Yungblud dismissed these accusations as “bitter” and “envious.”
Yungblud said: “They’re trying to insert themselves into a conversation to gain some relevance. This is happening as we honor one of the greatest rock stars of all time.”
The British musician, who was very close to Ozzy Osbourne and his family, joined Aerosmith in paying tribute to the late Black Sabbath member at the VMAs. In the past few weeks, Yungblud has spoken several times about how deeply Ozzy Osbourne’s death affected him personally and how important their close friendship was to him.
