A burning car on the A27 between the Nieuwendijk exit and the Hooipolder junction caused many delays on Friday afternoon. The lane towards Breda is closed and the delay is more than an hour. It also happened on the A2. After an accident in the direction of Utrecht, traffic slowly moves forward.
From the Sint-Michielsgestel exit, the delay there is also almost an hour. Two lanes are closed.
The fire brigade is present at the A27 to extinguish the car. The road then still needs to be cleaned, because there are oil and petrol residues on the asphalt. It will therefore take some time before the road can be opened again.
Holiday rush hour
The heavy traffic jams on Brabant’s roads seem to be an unfortunate harbinger of a busy holiday rush hour. The ANWB expects extra traffic on the road on Friday afternoon due to the start of the autumn holidays in the South region.
Extra traffic is expected, especially on the A2, due to holidaymakers heading south. Traffic is also backed up elsewhere in the province early in the afternoon.
