Saoirse Ronan appears in Sam Mendes’ multi-part Beatles biopic can be seen alongside Paul Mescal as Linda McCartney. The ambitious project dedicates an individual film to each member of the Fab Four. On October 8, 2025, Deadline announced that Ronan had joined the cast. Paul Mescal takes on the role of Paul McCartney. The first line-ups of the Fab Four were announced in April. Representatives for Ronan have not yet responded to ROLLING STONE’s request for comment.

The official announcements of the remaining leading actresses have also yet to be made – those who will appear alongside Harris Dickinson (John Lennon), Joseph Quinn (George Harrison) and Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr) as Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd and Maureen Starkey. “It’s an honor to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and I look forward to challenging the notion of what constitutes a moviegoing experience,” Mendes previously said in a statement. Each of the four films is intended to tell the story of the most influential band in music history from a different perspective.

For the project, Mendes receives access to the life stories of the individual band members as well as the Beatles’ music rights. Earlier this year, Ringo Starr told The New York Times that he spent two days going through the script line by line with Mendes to make sure everything was correct. The musician insisted on rewriting some scenes – especially those involving his family and his first wife Maureen Starkey. “He had a screenwriter – a very good screenwriter with a great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and me,” Starr said. “We weren’t like that. I said, ‘We would never do that.'”

Mescal perfects his McCartney

Paul Mescal is also working hard on his performance. “I’ve met him a few times. I adore him. And I think he changed the world,” the actor said in a recent cover interview with Rolling Stone. He even learned to play guitar with his left hand for the role: “It would just be crazy not to play left hand, you know?” Mescal said. “You think, ‘Nah. I like [McCartney] very much, but I don’t love him.’ That would be the message if I didn’t play with my left hand. And he is, in my opinion, the coolest man on planet Earth.”
