Winston and Renate Gerschtanowitz once had sky-high TV ambitions, but we only see him in a red coat handing out postal code prizes and she is happily mothering at home. Why exactly?
There was a time when Winston Gerschtanowitz was on the channel every day as the host of RTL Boulevard, while Renate Gerschtanowitz was the face of Shownieuws for years. At one point we even saw the two as a television duo on SBS 6 at the end of 2017, namely as presenters of the failed show Circus Gerschtanowitz.
Other project
Why do we see so little of Winston and Renate these days? Million hunt is indeed his only job at the moment, he admits in the Weekend. “Yes, I do the charity items and the live connection with the studio. And I still work a lot for the Postcode Lottery. That is what I have on the agenda in the Netherlands in the short term.”
He continues: “I am of course now also working on things for another project. I am very proud of it and would like to tell you about it, but that is really not possible for a while.”
Interview show
What other project? “I am creating a very nice international project. The first episodes have already been shown. But unfortunately I cannot say anything about that yet. Yes, I am the presenter, absolutely.”
It will be an interview show, says Winston. Are there also international guests? “Just. There is no Dutch guest. No, we have seen all those people often enough in other TV programs, we have seen them now.”
And what about Renate?
And what about Renate? Can he also put down the feather duster again? Will she ever be on TV again? “I just happened to ask her that this afternoon. Then she said: ‘Well, not about coming back, but if there was a program that I really thought: this now fits into my life, then I wouldn’t be negative about it.’”
He concludes: “Of course she stopped working at Shownieuws herself, for certain reasons. That was her own choice. But I think it is indeed a shame. So I try to encourage her to do something on television again.”
