Karen Reichardt, new head of the list of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in the Province of Buenos Aires, is under intense scrutiny after the resignation of José Luis Espert, for alleged links to drug trafficking, and the blocking of Diego Santilli as an alternative. In this context, users on social networks have unearthed a history of racist and homophobic tweets by Reichardt, revealing a pattern of discriminatory behavior that calls into question her suitability as a candidate.

Between 2017 and 2018, Reichardt posted messages loaded with racial prejudice. On October 31, 2017, he wrote “Fat blacks” referring to rival fans. Days later, on November 5, he said “Blocking these blacks is a pleasure!” In 2018, he continued with tweets such as the one on March 5: “And there are some so black fat that they can’t post a photo of how ugly they are and truchosssss… paprika”, ridiculing the appearance of other users. Another tweet, from March 5, 2018, includes a reference to “black humor” with an image of the Three Wise Men (Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar), where the one with black skin says “hold on Cristina”, using a racial stereotype in a derogatory way. Some tweets appear to have been deleted, but the consistent tone suggests a history of discrimination.

The scandal does not end there. In November 2024, when he was already publicly supporting Javier Milei and La Libertad Avanza, Reichardt published homophobic comments: “Not me! Because I had my entourage of gays… I know their heads, deep down they hate you if you’re pretty… I’m talking about 80%. There is 20% that can be saved.” This tweet, with her already involved in politics, generalizes and perpetuates harmful stereotypes against the LGBTQ+ community.

These messages clash with the values of inclusion and diversity that a public figure should represent, especially in a province as plural as Buenos Aires. Reichardt’s record reveals a pattern of prejudice that is not an isolated event, but a constant. As LLA seeks to revamp politics, the question is whether it can sustain a candidate with such a divisive speech. Voters will decide, but Reichardt’s tweets have already marked his candidacy.
