Ice hockey superstar Connor McDavid will continue to be on the ice as a teammate by Leon Draisaitl at the Edmonton Oilers.
As the Stanley Cup finalist announced on Monday, the Canadian extended his expiring contract with the NHL franchise by two more years to 2028.
Just a few days before the start of the new season, the Oilers clarified another personnel question. On Friday, Edmonton had already officially did the contract extension of coach KRIS Knoblauch by three years to 2029. “Connor’s commitment to our team and our city is only exceeded by his unique focus to bring the fans of the Edmonton Oilers back the Stanley Cup,” said Stan Bowman, Vice President and General Manager of the Franchise.
McDavid was first selected by the Oilers in the 2015 draft of the NHL. Since then he has been awarded the art Ross Trophy for the best scorer and three times with the Hart Memorial Trophy for the MVP of the league. In 712 main round areas, he got 1082 points. In the past two seasons, McDavid with Edmonton has stood in the final series around the Stanley Cup, but the Canadians failed because of the Florida Panthers.
In the ranking of the top earners, McDavid did not jump to the top with his new working paper. At the end of September, Kirill Kaprisow received an eight-year contract with an annual salary of $ 17 million from the Minnesota Wild. This is valid from the 2026/27 season. The Russian Draisaitl is thus displacing first place, the Cologne native receives $ 14 million annually.
The Oilers start the new season on Thursday on Thursday. At the start, it goes against the Calgary Flames.
