Sporting Lisbon can continue to build on top performers Pedro Gonçalves (27). The wing striker, who was again associated with Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, extended his contract for three years until June 30, 2030. The exit clause of 80 million euros is retained.

Gonçalves came from FC Famalicão to Sporting for 13.5 million euros in the summer of 2020, for which he had previously contributed 87 goals and 60 templates in 208 games. With the Liss subscribers, the attacker won three championship titles and once the trophy. What he had achieved with Sporting is “a dream that has become true,” said Gonçalves, for whom the extension is a “proud moment”.

“I have the feeling that the club, the president and everyone involved me as part of this story. That makes me very proud, because I love this club,” continued Gonçalves. “I would never have expected to come to such a big club as Sporting. I am happy to write my own story and go my own way. The most important thing is to get trophies for the club and one day to go to the Sporting Museum and see my name there. (…) Sporting gave me everything as much as possible.”
