National coach Julian Nagelsmann has to do without a key player before the important World Cup qualification games. It waives a nomination.

Julian Nagelsmann welcomed only 23 players to the start of the training week in Herzogenaurach. Striker Nick Woltemade from Newcastle United had to fit at short notice due to illness. According to the DFB, the 23-year-old, who debut strong performances in England, will move up in the coming days.

The national coach initially waived a post -nomination. The preparation applies to the two upcoming games in the qualification for the World Cup 2026. On Friday evening, the DFB selection in Sinsheim will meet Luxembourg, three days later the away game in Northern Ireland is coming up.

After the failed start in Slovakia (0: 2) and the subsequent 3-1 success against Northern Ireland, the starting point in Group A is tense. In order to stay in the race for participating in the World Cup, two victories in the remaining October games are necessary.

Woltemade, who quickly prevailed from Stuttgart near Newcastle after moving from Stuttgart, already scored four goals in seven competitive games. Nagelsmann with Jonathan Burkardt from Eintracht Frankfurt and Maximilian Beier from Borussia Dortmund has other alternatives for the attack.

However, Nagelsmann refrained from returning from Niclas Füllkrug. The attacker playing at West Ham United is still not in the desired constitution.
