From 6 to 10 October, the (h) honest Dutch HAP will be organized for the first time. During this annually recurring week, food produced in the Netherlands plays the leading role in many of the company restaurants of the central government.

6 large caterers of the central government give extra attention to food from the Netherlands in this week. That does not mean that only endive stew with smoked sausage and kale with a meatball is served, but also other dishes with ingredients from Dutch soil, for example a salad with cauliflower, chicken and beet and Limburg sour meat with fries. This means that the central government, who is a large buyer of food and drinks, reflects on the value of the Dutch food system.

Minister Femke Marije Wiersma: “Our Dutch farmers, fishermen and gardeners can be seen, because they take care of the tastiest ingredients for good food day in, day out. This entire week is all about what they have to offer and how good Dutch food can be. We often buy our food in a supermarket without any sense of this week, for example, in a bit of shipment. Company restaurant of my ministry and during a meeting with Dutch farmers, many people about the value and power of Dutch food, I hope to inspire everyone with products from Dutch soil, whether it is about purchasing or preparing. ”

The (h) honest Dutch HAP, an initiative of the House of Representatives, is part of the Week of our food, of which the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature Partner is. During this week, numerous activities take place throughout the country. The ministry wants to strengthen the relationship between farmers, gardeners, fishermen and society and make people in the Netherlands more aware of the value of our food, which is internationally known for its high quality.
