After four defeats in series, FC Augsburg finally celebrated a victory again on Saturday. A great relief for Sandro Wagner.

FC Augsburg defeated VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 on Saturday. It was the first victory since the 1st matchday, the previously tense situation in the Fuggerstadt should now calm down a bit. But there were still a few discussions after the game. Because with the final whistle, Sandro Wagner made a gesture with his hand, which is usually supposed to imitate a spicy mouth. An allusion to the latest discussions about him as head coach in Augsburg?

Shortly afterwards, the Augsburg coach disappeared into the cabin. When asked about this, Wagner said at DAZN that the topic was “not nice”, but: “I like something like that, many can talk. It doesn’t matter with me.” Referred to the gesture, however, he added: “That was nothing evil.”

The coach made the performance of his team particularly happy. “We are happy about the victory,” said Wagner, who had ordered five players to his starting eleven after the 1-2 in Heidenheim. “We had a lot of gamers on the pitch,” he said. And lo and behold: Augsburg played almost as well. Wolfsburg coach Paul Simonis therefore emphasized several times: “Today was only a team on the square who wanted to win, and that was Augsburg.”

Last but not least, the goal scorers Noahkai Banks (3rd) and Mert Kömür (51st), both new in the starting eleven, provided a fresh wind and a recently complained about the lack of energy among the Augsburgers. Robin Fellhauer scored the third goal (63.), Adam Daghim (65th) Operation Result cosmetics. “That was,” said Wagner satisfied, “an all -round successful afternoon for FC Augsburg.”
