As athlete, Marcel Hirscher celebrated one success after another. As an entrepreneur, his patience is probably required.
In terms of sport, Marcel Hirscher is preparing for a possible comeback in the World Cup. Financially, however, he had to accept a setback. His ski company Van Deer-Red Bull Sports Equipment GmbH made a high loss in 2024.
According to the Austrian magazine “Trend” from the current annual financial statements, the balance sheet loss at the end of the year is 17.9 million euros. In the previous year, the minus was 5.7 million euros. The shortfall in the comeback year of the ski star has increased by more than twelve million euros.
Hirscher is involved in the company with 45 percent via his TMS Beteiligung GmbH. The majority (51 percent) hold Red Bull, four percent belong to Dominic Tritscher, a long -time familiar Hirschers. The high losses fall in a time of great investments. At the end of September, the ski production of the brands van Deer and Augment from Oberpinzgau moved to the newly built work in the Scheffau in Salzburg. The production should start there in October.
How much money flowed into the new building with a dark green facade remains unclear. One thing is clear: production should start with around 80 employees, later it could be up to 100, according to media reports. It is planned to produce up to 30,000 pairs of ski per year.
