According to the Israeli Football Association, the US sports article manufacturer Reebok has withdrawn a decision to end the cooperation with the national team. A spokesman announced that this was the result of a conversation between the association chairman Shino Zuaretz with Reebok and the local licensee. “The company’s logo will continue to appear on the jerseys of the national teams in international games, as before,” said the spokesman.

Previously, the association had announced that Reebok had asked the Israeli national football team to no longer show the company’s logo on the jerseys. The association said: “We regret that the international company Reebok has apparently decided to bend embarrassing, completely irrelevant boycott threats.” Reebok was initially unavailable to comment on the reports.

The Israeli news portal “Ynet” reported that Reebok had pronounced the request for boycott threats from the BDS movement. BDS stands for “boycott, disinvestment and sanctions”. This is directed against goods from Israel and the cooperation in culture, sport and science. The BDS movement had sentenced the BDS movement as an anti-Semitic in a decision of May 17, 2019 as a whole and also its campaign.

The association wanted to remove the logo, but check steps

The Israeli Football Association continued to say: “There are clear laws against Boykotte, and we will check all legal options available to us.” For the time being and so as not to damage the local provider, the Reebok logo will be removed and the jerseys will continue to carry. “We are convinced that a brave and fair sponsor will find themselves promptly.” Later the message to withdraw the decision came.

In view of the hard procedure in the Gaza War, Israel is increasingly isolated internationally, also in areas such as culture and science.
