The Martín Fierro 2025 awards ceremony, held yesterday at the Hilton Hotel in Puerto Madero, reunited the main figures of Argentine television. It was a night of brightness, emotion and some surprises. Among the most commented awards, Mirtha Legrand received the special television legend, while the “Margarita” series of Cris Morena took recognition for the best fiction. Everything passed within what was expected until the outcome came.
The closure left the most uncomfortable postcard of the night: Santiago del Moro, driver of the gala, opened the end and read his own name as winner of Martín Fierro de Oro. There was an uncomfortable silence, some nerve laughs and the driver’s image covering his face with his hands before accepting the applause. When Rodolfo Barili approached the stage with the statuette, both melted into a hug that tried to hide the embarrassment, but the gesture was already marked: Del Moro had to give himself the prize to himself.
The driver thanked in tears, spoke of effort and dreams fulfilled, but the situation instantly viralized as a pathetic episode. In social networks they called him “historical paper” and the memes about the “self -referee” were multiplied. The ceremony, which usually looks for the television epic, ended up being in the collective memory by an involuntary gag.
Martín Fierro de Oro is the most important APTRA award. Since 1992, it distinguishes the most outstanding figure or production of the year and is usually the cúlmine moment of the gala. This 2025, however, will remain in history for the paradox of its winner: Santiago del Moro became an absolute protagonist, not only to obtain the maximum recognition, but for the unusual fact of having to reward public.
