Recold rally at the gold price stops

Gold has accelerated its record hunting in the United States in view of the impending “shutdown”. On Tuesday, the prize for tubular ounce (about 31.1 grams) climbed up to one percent in early trade to almost $ 3,872. The precious metal was more expensive than ever. With the increase, the gold price expanded its annual plus to more than 47 percent and is heading for the strongest annual increase since 1979.

The gold price had only reached a record on Monday and continued its rally on Tuesday. On the first two trading days of the week, the plus amounts to more than $ 100 or almost three percent. Experts attributed the plus to the impending standstill of the work in US government authorities.

In the United States, Democrats and Republicans regularly argue about the household until the last minute. But rarely was a “shutdown” – a standstill of the government business – as probably as this time. The positions of the two major parties are too far apart, which is why political observers do not expect the budget to be passed in time for the next twelve months.

With the climb this week, the precious metal climbed significantly more than many other asset classes over the course of the year. For example, Bitcoin, the oldest and best -known digital currency, has only been more than a fifth since the end of 2024. The DAX, the leading index for the German stock market, was able to grow around 19 percent in the previous course.

In the past three years, the gold price has attracted more than 130 percent, with geopolitical risks such as the Russian attack war against Ukraine increasing the flight in the investment ports that are considered to be safe.

In addition, there is the aggressive customs policy of the US government and the attacks by US President Donald Trump against the US Federal Reserve Fed, strengthening concerns about the independence of the central bank.
