After their graduation, MBO students with a non-European background have less frequent work than average is among MBO graduates. They also have to apply more often for an internship or graduation place. It writes that Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Tuesday.
Of the MBO students with a non-European background who graduated in the 2021/2022 school year, 82 percent had work after one year. If all graduate MBO students are included, 92 percent have a job within that period.
It is also more difficult for second generation of Dutch people (born in the Netherlands and one or two parents with a non-European background) to get a job. A year after graduation, according to the CBS, this group found work in 85 percent of the cases.
Research by the Statistics Office also shows that MBO students have to apply much more often more often with a foreign origin for obtaining an internship. Statistics Netherlands asked students if they had to apply more than seven times for a learning or internship. For MBO students with an outdoor European origin, this was twice as often as with students with a Dutch origin.
