Biomethane impulse
Performing good purines management implies significant advantagesboth from an environmental and agricultural point of view. It reduces soil and water pollution by decreasing the load of pollutants containing the slurries before being treated. It should also be noted that, since the purines are treated, valuable elements such as nitrogen and phosphorus are recovered, which can be reused as fertilizers in agriculture, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and promoting the circular economy.
In addition, all this allows us to approach the objectives signed within the Green Pact by the European Union, which have proposed to reduce the net greenhouse gas emissions in at least 55% with respect to the 1990 levels and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. Naturgy, committed to advancing in this direction, wants to be The leading company in the impulse of the biomethane in the Iberian Peninsula, both in its production and in the distribution through the existing gasist network. The energy, which already has three biomethane plants in operation and two in construction, has recently signed several agreements for the development of up to 50 biomethane plants in Spain before 2030. Plants will have the capacity to generate up to 4.5 twh per year, the equivalent of gas consumption of about one million homes.
