Nico Schlotterbeck will return to the German national soccer team after a long injury break. The central defender of Borussia Dortmund will be “Be definitely there and deserves it”said national coach Julian Nagelsmann on the edge of an event in Frankfurt am Main.
Schlotterbeck have “no problems” more. “He gives us an outstanding game structure, a great will to win and finally a left foot at the back”said Nagelsmann. “In his last international match against Italy, he was the best man on the pitch and can now be again. We are very happy that he is back.”
Long break because of Meniscus injury
The 25-year-old Schlotterbeck had failed because of a meniscus injury, most recently he has played two Bundesliga games over 90 minutes.
On Thursday (02.10.25), Nagelsmann will announce his squad for the games in the World Cup qualification against Luxembourg (October 10th/Sinsheim) and Northern Ireland (October 13th/Belfast). After two games, Germany has a victory (3-1 against Northern Ireland) and a defeat (0: 2 against Slovakia).
