Heuer Fernandes parries penalty: HSV earns point at Union Berlin

The Hamburger SV won a point at Union Berlin at the end of the 5th game day – also because goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes kept a penalty.

In the stadium “An der Alte Försterei”, the first duel between the two clubs in the Bundesliga did not score goals in front of 22,012 spectators. HSV goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes parried a penalty, Hamburg’s Fabio Viera flew off the square in added time.

After the zero number, Union slipped to eleven with now seven points, the HSV climbed to 13th place with five points. Last week the North Germans had won the first victory after the Bundesliga return.

Union without coach Baumgart

Polzin: “Arrived in the league”

“There was a lot in the game. I am very satisfied with the first half. The penalty held certainly contributed to the fact that we can stay well in the game”said HSV coach Merlin Polzin afterwards at the ARD microphone: “I am also very satisfied with the reaction in the second half. After the fifth matchday, you can say that we have arrived in the league.”

In the ninth minute, referee Deniz Aytekin was the focus. HSV striker Rayan Philippe went very impetuously in the penalty area against Diogo Leiten and the referee had no choice but to point to the point.

However, the Berliners could not use the Hamburg gift: Andrej Ilić failed to HSV goalkeeper Heuer Fernandes.

HSV determines the first half

The leadership would also have been flattering, because the first half belonged to the “red pants” from Hamburg. They had more plays, but never really became dangerous. The guests invested much more, played bravely and attacked extremely high, but the attacks and the counterattacks did not play well. There was a lack of punch. Shortly before the break, the Hamburgers were lucky, but Ilyas looked at Berlin’s best chance after a corner of the ball from a short distance over the box.

Königsdörffer leaves great chance

The HSV was also more active at the beginning of the second round. The first chance had Jean-Luc Dompé, who simply pulled out from 27 meters. Berlin’s Rönnow struggled to steer the ball over the crossbar. A little later, Viera pulled a flank from 16 meters technically demanding volley on goal, but missed the box.

It took until the next chance until the 72nd minute. In a quick attack over right, Ransford Königsdörffer appeared freely in front of the goal, but put the ball past the long corner. It was the best HSV chance of the game.

Union reacts too late

Then Union came and the HSV was in luck. First a corner from Christopher Trimmel, surprisingly, clapped the post in a short corner for everyone, then looked at a header just past the goal.

In the further course the game flattened out. Anyone who had expected a Berlin final offensive was deceived. And the longer the game lasted, the more the HSV seemed to be able to make friends with one point. The Hanseates even had a big chance shortly before the end, but Rönnow defused a header from Guilherme Ramos.

Viera flies deep in added time

Deep in added time, Hamburg’s Viera saw the red card because he had cleared the crossfield in Kung-Fu manner Leopold. Nevertheless, the end remained at 0-0, which the HSV earned a little more than the 1. FC Union.
