Luuk Ikink could just be the next victim of channel boss Peter van der Vorst, thinks TV critic Victor Vlam. “I would really find it a shame if RTL slides further.”
RTL 4 was the celebrated TV channel in the Netherlands for years, but the station is currently in heavy weather. Channel boss Peter van der Vorst has completely killed the relatively successful late evening: Beau, Humberto and Renze scored very much, but have been exchanged for the completely flopped and substantively failed RTL Tonight.
Boulevard De Klos?
According to Victor Vlam, it is evident that Peter has no idea what lives among the ordinary viewer since he has inhabited a building of four million euros in the Amsterdam canal belt. The television bobo is in an elitist bubble and is now mainly serving its well -to -do neighbors, according to the Mediacriticus.
His vision threatens to help RTL 4, he believes. “Lubach is also just a VPRO program that is now being broadcast by RTL, but which does not necessarily fit with the RTL 4 audience. I think you also see it at RTL Boulevard.”
All positive
The Luuk Ikink show RTL Boulevard is also in danger of sliding under Peter’s leadership, says Victor. “That is no longer a controversial entertainment section, because nowadays it must all be positive.”
“Be Sweet” is the unofficial motto of that channel, but Boulevard used to look at the world of Glitter and Glamor with a critical look, and that is how the ordinary Dutchman looks at it. But now Boulevard seems to be making more connection with the entertainment world instead of the world of ordinary people. “

Luuk and his colleagues are therefore in danger, Victor believes. “As a result, it has become a less strong program, that is where you see that problem. But I also start to fear the Voice in all honesty.”
What is that? “That is the most successful talent show in the world, but with the choices made by Peter I do not know whether the return will be so successful, because to prevent hassle behind the scenes, all jury members have been attracted to which nothing can be regarded, but at the same time blood -sane.”
Diversity
Peter has dumped Buddy Vedder against his will as a presenter of The Voice Kids to make way for the more diverse Quinty Misiedjan. “The presenters who have been selected on the basis of who meets all kinds of diversity objectives instead of who is the best in his profession and therefore deserves to present.”
He continues: “Those are problems and that you see in several areas at RTL. I also hope that they will take a thorough look at the choices they have made lately.”
Mortal sin
Victor fears that Peter is not the right man to inspect his own policy. “I would really find it a shame if RTL is further distracted, but I have to say: it is often very difficult to draw these kinds of conclusions to acknowledge that you made a mistake here in this area.”
He concludes: “It’s very fundamental, because you just miss the bond with your traditional supporters.”
