Kuurne’s Hippodroom used to have big moments and also attracted well -known names. Living legend Jos Verbeeck often drove it. “Every race counts. I have won a total of around 8,500. Winning in Kuurne certainly does something,” says the top jockey.
Yet equestrian sport is not under pressure everywhere. Jumping and dressage are doing well in our country. For trotting sport, only Waregem and Ostend are left in West Flanders. “Jockeys and breeders have to go there to still ride competitions. In the rest of Flanders, only Bergen and Tongeren are left, and that is an end of here,” said D’Hspeel.
