Start the weekend with Ozzy Osbourne: On Friday (September 26th) Judas Priest brought out her new version of “War Pigs”, as promised, in which Ozzy Osbourne sang. The song comes onto the market as a charity single. All profits are donated to the Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation and Cure Parkinson’s.
Of course, it is good to hear the voices of Rob Halford and Ozzy Osbourne together. But there is even more behind the interpretation of the Black Sabbath classic. The emotional project came from friendship and mutual respect for both bands and combines the common goal of supporting the fight against Parkinson’s.
It was originally intended as a tribute video for Ozzy and Black Sabbath, after Judas Priest could not take part in the farewell concert for the colleagues in Birmingham. Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne were immediately enthusiastic when they heard about the spontaneously expressed plans for a charity and supported Judas Priest in production. You can also hear Glenn Tipton, who plays guitar here despite his heavy struggle with Parkinson’s.
Rob Halford finds charity version of “War Pigs” “Kolossal”
In an interview in “Full Metal Jackie” podcast Frontmann Rob Halford told the duet’s recording process, which was created before Ozzy’s death in July. “Ozzy sings a line, then I a line, again ozzy a line, then I have a line,” said Halford. “It is the first time in my whole life that I could do a duet with Ozzy, and I am eternally grateful and blessed that I was able to experience it.”
Halford continues: “If you hear it, it’s just colossal. You think you already know the priest version of ‘War Pigs’, but when Ozzy sings along with this track, the whole thing goes to a really special place.”
“War Pigs” has now been published by Ozzy Osbourne’s first posthumous music publications. The musician died of a heart attack on July 22nd. After the news, Halford “rolled up and broke his eyes for hours”.
