What a great debut in the Olympic season for the German figure skating couple Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin: With the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, they take second place after a successful short program.
No mistakes, the highest level of difficulty and a lot of elegance: the couple runners Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin set an exclamation mark on their first appearance in the Olympic season. After a flawless and very atmospheric short program, take second place before the freestyle on Friday. Only the Japanese world champions Ryūichi Kihara/Riku Miura (78.19 points) were still a bit stronger.
Jumps, lifting figures, pirouettes – everything top
However, the German couple can be very satisfied with their own performance so early in the season and the 77.61 points of the judges. All required technical difficulties mastered Hase/Volodin in a playful way. Both the three-time Salchow and the Wurf-Rittberger get almost perfect. The lifting figures and pirouettes, which they showed to their specially composed tango, also impressed the spectators like the judges.
Olympics in Italy as a big goal
Since March, the duo in Canada had worked intensively on this short program and the freestyle. This is now the first wages. Of course, the Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo are only the big destination. At the moment the couple does not want to talk about a possible medal. The appearance in Oberstdorf showed, however, that the hare/preodine in Italy is definitely one of the contenders on gold, silver and bronze.
The Americans Alisa Efimova/Misha Mitrofanov (67.42 points) take third place behind the final freestyle behind Kihara/Miura and Hase/Preodine. Annika Hocke/Robert Kunkel ranked tenth (62.11), Letizia Roscher/Luis Schuster are 15 (53.35).
