If the Netherlands is allowed to organize this tournament, it would be for the third time. The first time was in 1949. At the time, the tournament was seen as an European Championship under the age of 18 and FIFA was the organizer.
At the second time in 1964, UEFA had already taken over the organization of FIFA and Volendam was strikingly one of the playing cities. It was then also a European Championship under the age of 18, only in 2002 that changed to 19 years. UEFA will announce on 3 December which country will organize the tournament.
