The swimmers Taliso Engel and Josia pot are currently successful at the Para Schwimm World Cup in Singapore. Angel broke the world record again in his class, for pot it is the first World Cup title.
It was a demonstration of power by Taliso Engel – again. Not only did the visually impaired swimmer get the World Cup throne again, but also cracked his own world record before the eyes of the specially traveled family. Engel was not the only middle franc to clearing the World Championships. It was also a gold day for Josia pot.
Angel discounts competition
For more than four seconds in front of the Dutch Thomas van Wanrooij, Engel struck in the final over 100 m breast of the SB13 start class. The 23-year-old outclassed his competition with a time of 1: 01.69 minutes. For the fourth time in a row, Engel is world champion over this distance. The Nuremberg also won twice gold at the Paralympics and is a two -time European champion. In April this year he was named paras athlete of the year.

Josia Topf also confidently closed his triumph of Paris and got his first world championship title. The Erlanger struck over 150 m in the SM3 class in 2: 55.06 minutes and thus over nine seconds earlier than silver medalist Ahmed Kelly from Australia.
“I am very happy that I am now world champion,” said the 22-year-old: “I didn’t see that.” After his three medals won at the Paralympics in Paris Pot at “Blickpunkt Sport” how he learned swimming as a child despite his disability. A formative moment in his life: “It was really a lot of fun because I knew for the first time: I can really do something with my body. I can do it.”
Engels time is world class
The winning time of Engel was 2.69 seconds over the time for the final in the World Cup at the World Cup of the Olympic athletes a few weeks ago in the same place, in the lead it would have been 40. Participation in the Olympics “always plays a role in my head, but definitely no leading role,” said Engel: “It is not now that a world breaks down if I don’t make it to the Olympics.
