Bundesliga goalkeeper sets a special record

In the game against SV Werder Bremen, Freiburg’s goalkeeper can be particularly distinguished in one scene – and thus enters the history books.
Noah Atubolu let himself be heard extensively from his teammates and enjoyed the ovations from the away block: SC Freiburg has ticked off its weak season start and can also look forward to the Europa League start thanks to its penalty hero. In the 3-0 (1: 0) success at Werder Bremen, the athletic keeper set an impressive Bundesliga record.
What happened? It ran the 59th minute in the Weser Stadium in Bremen when the 23-year-old once more demonstrated his extraordinary qualities. After a handball by teammate Jordy Makengo, referee Timo Gerach decided with the help of the Var: penalty. Bremen’s Romano Schmid competed – and Atubolu parried the penalty shot too inaccurate and thus kept his fifth penalty in a row in the German elite league. With the new best value, he decisively secured the second win of Breisgau.
The penalty held was “of course the basis for victory today,” said coach Julian Schuster. Vincenzo Grifo referred to Atubolu at Sky laughing as a “Sauhund” because he would have ended the duel between both Freiburg professionals in training after an elf.
ATUBOLU gives the sense of achievement again, but the native of Freiburg trusts in its strength anyway. In the long term it was his goal “definitely to become a national goalkeeper”, he had recently said in the ZDF sports studio and received great praise from world champion Manuel Neuer: “All doors are open to the future.”
