The course of the game

Cottbus trainer Claus-Dieter Wollitz exchanged compared to Award win in Mannheim the storm. Instead of Erik Engelhardt and Ted Tattermusch, Justin Butler and Timmy Thiele began, who was in the starting eleven for the first time this season. Tim Campulka also replaced King Manu on defensive. The two newcomers Simon Straudi and Merville Biankadi, on the other hand, did not make it into the squad.

In front of an atmospheric backdrop, the home side immediately pressed the accelerator pedal. They ran up the opponent high, put it with great problems and took the lead after just 67 seconds. Tolcay Cigerci put the ball precisely into the penalty area on Moritz Hannemann. He didn’t hit the ball properly, but it still turned past the keeper into the far corner.

Cottbus then continued to dominate and scratched on the second goal. Instead, after a quarter of an hour they conceded the balance out of nowhere. For the first time, Aue combined at the front, in the penalty area Jonah Fabisch then had a cross through the running Julian Guttau, who pushed in 1-1. The goal inspired the guests from the Erzgebirge, which could now make the game more balanced.

Cottbus wins after a wild game in Mannheim

After more than a month, Energie Cottbus won a third division game again. At Waldhof Mannheim, the Lausitzer performed well for long distances. Even if it was a wild encounter overall.more

However, they were lucky: Cigerci moved into the penalty area on the left edge of the penalty area and came in stumbling, after he was kept slightly by his opponent Marvin Stefaniak. Apparently enough for referee Max Burda to point to the point. From there the fouled himself converted, with a precise shot to the right inner post, from which the ball crashed into the goal (67.).

The game turned again and the Lausitzer urged the next goal in the final phase. They missed the lid on it, but in the end they earned the narrow lead over time and collected the three points.

Player of the game

… was Tolcay Cigerci. Energie’s top scorer not only cleverly pulled the penalty and converted it to victory, he was again the linchpin of the Cottbus offensive. As so often, the 30-year-old demonstrates his enormous individual quality, could hardly be separated from the ball, often had the right idea and a good overview. He counted 91 ball contacts at the end and his goal for 2-1 was already his fifth goal of the season.

What was going on there?

Fortunately nothing. At least apart from what happened on the lawn. The East derby had been classified as a risk game by the German Football Association (DFB) because there had been several clashes and riots among fan camps during the past meetings of both clubs. In Cottbus there was therefore a large police force, strict checks and massive closures around the game. This time, however, it remained calm between the domestic fans and the 1,000 fans who traveled from the Ore Mountains.
